Meditation app with music tuned to your state

iOS app, four states

About the project
State is a meditation app where music is picked by the state you want to reach, not by track name. Four states on the main screen: movement, focus, sleep and relaxation. Each has its own library, generated rather than pulled from a common sound bank.
The task
- 01Build an iOS app from scratch: the client had an idea and music, no code
- 02Work out how a person picks a state without reading descriptions
- 03Set up passwordless sign-in: email, Apple, Yandex and VK
- 04Gate access with activation codes: the app is not sold through the App Store
How we worked
01States instead of a catalogue
Four states sit around a figure, each with its own mark. Plus a field at the bottom: you describe the state you want in words when none of the four fits.
02The music library
Music is generative and comes from a curated Mubert library. The app pulls a fresh playlist once a day and falls back to a bundled list when the service is unreachable — there is never silence.
03Passwordless sign-in
Four ways in: a code by email, Apple, Yandex and VK. No passwords at all — a password field is out of place in an app you open to fall asleep.
04Activation codes
Access is granted by a code rather than a store purchase. The code binds to a person on activation and will not work from another account.
05Over-the-air updates
Changes reach the app without a rebuild and a new review: the bundled logic updates on the fly, and a full build is only needed when the native part changes.

Outcome
The app is built and uploaded to App Store Connect, version 1.0.1 is in review. Backend, music library and activation codes work, updates ship over the air. The landing page lives at maconly.app.

Someone who cannot fall asleep will not scroll through a catalogue of two hundred tracks. They need one button.
